TALK ABOUT THE ISLA MUJERES WEDDING DREAM. An Isla Mujeres wedding is my new favorite wedding destination for obvious reasons. So quaint, intimate, and perfect for that couple who want to get married surrounded by stunning views and close family. Elise and Martyn wanted to have a much smaller, intimate wedding. When Elise reached out to me she had such a glowing excitement about her day and all the tiny details exploded out of her. Having her wedding in Isla Mujeres was the perfect private area just for Elise and Martyn. Elise thought of every single thing and it was such an honor to be such a small percentage of their love together.
More about this Isla Mujeres Venue at Villa Zyanya
The Airbnb Elise and Martyn had their day at was incredible. Villa Zyanya was jaw-dropping and the perfect space for what Elise and Martyn wanted. Villa Zyanya was in the heart of Isla Mujeres with perfect light, views, dolphin watching, and just soaking up the sun. See more of Zyanya here with all the pretty views and inquire for more information on pricing.
Where can I stay in Isla Mujeres?
Another fun spot in Isla Mujeres is the Izla Hotel. This is where I stayed during my time with Elise and Martyn. If you are looking to elope here and need somewhere for your family to stay, the Izla Hotel may be it! The hotel has golf carts for you to rent and take out on a spin as well as taxis constantly rolling in and out! The hotel has a restaurant inside and is super yummy! Plus the rooms are so spacious and the view is unbeatable.
Things to think about planning your Wedding in Isla Mujeres coming from the states
The Ferry!! Believe it or not, you have to take a ferry- woo! Fun stuff. I literally watched a youtube video to calm my nerves about getting to the island. Rest assured, it is way easier to navigate. The ferry is called the Ultramar Ferry. It is a big, yellow ferry. Need to buy your round-trip ferry ticket? Find more information here. You can cruise inside the ferry or sit on top. You may get wet up there just a quick little disclaimer there. To get to the ferry you must take buses! You can always purchase a private car which I did to avoid taking the bus.
Don’t forget about pesos! There is ONE BANK on the island. It’s a cute little green one, you can’t miss it. You can get pesos through this bank and it is super easy. Keep in mind you can get American dollars into pesos before your trip. I would highly recommend going this route. The taxis do take the American Dollar but having pesos on hand for your trip is a must.
What to do in Isla Mujeres
No car but you are driving golf carts! There are plenty, plenty of places to rent golf carts. Check out this site to get a little idea. Be sure you are not scammed as I did run into a tourist who spent a hefty amount on a golf cart. Sometimes travelers can get taken advantage of when renting golf carts. However, if you do have the opportunity to rent a golf cart, don’t think twice!
The Hotel Zone is before you get to the actual island. It is, as you can probably guess, full of hotels. I do recommend staying on the actual island because as noted in #1 you do have to take a ferry. The Izla Hotel, noted below, is on the island and a perfect spot to settle down.
Getting around the island is quick. It is a rather smaller island so don’t panic. Everything is right around and it was so much easier to navigate than what I made up in my head before arriving.
An obvious one but get a passport and make sure your passport is not expired. Better to double-check than gamble.
