Don’t you love looking through first look photos?
They literally FILL your heart. Have you thought if you want to do a first look or are you going back and forth in your head? You are weighing out the pros and cons of having a first look and your left wondering- is this for me?
You are every bride EVER and we all think this way. So normal.
Let me give you my TOP THREE reasons you should consider having a first look.
You have prepped and prepped but you will still have a bit of butterflies on your big day and girl that’s normal. Having a first look is a HUGE way to melt those nerves away and connect you with your person before you lock eyes down the aisle. Cam and I did long distance for three years and I remember seeing him in the airport after such a long time and leading up to seeing him I was SO nervous and then when we saw each other, those nerves disappeared. Think of it like that.
Melt those nerves right before the aisle.
You get to just be with each other before you get bombarded by family and friends. Having a first look gives you both some time to talk with one another and be in that moment. Once you hit the aisle you will have multiple eyes locked on you both so maybe steal some time with just each other during your first look.
This one is a big concern with soon-to-be brides when thinking about possibly having a first look.
Growing up you always thought about that aisle moment!! Ammmiright? You don’t want to ruin it by having a first look but guess what? You aren’t! You are doubling the sweetness basically. Nothing can take away from your big aisle moment and him seeing you.
Yes, he saw you in your dress during your first look but did he see you walking down the aisle. Man, that’s a WHOLE other moment in of itself. Don’t take away from that moment just because you had a separate first look moment. Both are special.
Now, if a first look is something you really like the idea of but you don’t necessarily want to see each other just yet that is more than okay!
Consider having a “first touch.”
Find a corner at your venue and do one or all three:
– pray together
– exchange gifts
– read each other handwritten letters
You can still have a special, quiet moment without seeing each other.
So which one are you leaning towards? Having a first look, maybe a first touch or neither! Whatever you decide isn’t wrong in any way. First look or not, it’s going to be so special and uniquely you.
